What are the requirements to receive an NGAMS Scholarship?

To whom is the scholarship paid?

The NGAMS Scholarships are paid directly to the recipient in the form of a check from NGAMS.

When will I get my scholarship award?

Scholarships are awarded twice each year. The initial award of $3,000 is given at the NGAMS State Conference. Thereafter an award is given prior to the spring semester after proof of at least the required GPA is submitted. Each subsequent fall and spring semester an award is given after proof of at least the required GPA is submitted.

What are the requirements to retain the scholarship?

Undergraduate students must maintain a cumulative and semester average of 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale) and graduate students must maintain a cumulative and semester average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale). NGAMS maintains the right to withhold award due to failure to maintain the required GPA or other instances of disciplinary action or allegation, academic fraud, or other issue that may reflect poorly on NGAMS or that is otherwise contrary to the mission or values of the National Guard Association of Mississippi. Student will provide all requested information needed to investigate any such allegation or action. NGAMS reserves the right to recoup any amounts awarded.

What other agreements are expected of NGAMS Scholarship recipients?

NGAMS Scholars and their families must agree to have their images and identification as an NGAMS Scholar made public and used as a promotion of the NGAMS Scholarship. NGAMS Scholarship recipients will appear at the NGAMS State Conference for their initial award.

What if I’m not chosen for the NGAMS Scholarship?

Students may re-apply the following year for the scholarship.

If I lose my scholarship may I apply again?

Students that lose their scholarship may re-apply the following year.
