The VA letter is required to obtain certain Veteran Disability benefits in MS. Some of these are as follows:
1. Ad Valorem Tax- Any Veteran having a service-connected total disability, who has been honorably discharged from military service shall be exempt from all Ad Valorem taxes on the assessed value of homestead property and to extend such exemption to un-remarried surviving spouses of such Veterans.
2. Fishing and Hunting License. Residents who are blind, paraplegic, a multiple-amputee, adjudged 100% disabled by the Social Security Administration, or 100% service-connected disabled by the Veterans Administration or Railroad Retirement Board are NOT required to purchase a hunting or fishing license [MS. Code 49-7-5 and 49-7-9].
3. Vehicle Tags- Veterans with 70 or greater percent disability can purchase two motor vehicle, or one motorcycle license plate for $1 each. These license plates are exempt from all other property taxes, privilege taxes or any other taxes and fees.
