Look Military Service Tribute, Honors, and Obituary:
Recognizing and Honoring a Fallen Hero who Served in the Mississippi National Guard. “Fallen, Yet Not Forgotten.” In recognition of our proud American tradition of honorable service, which our military men and women have given to their country and our state, we honor a Fallen Hero. Our nation, our state, and the National Guard Association of MS (NGAMS) regard memorializing its retired military deceased as an honorable and sacred obligation. Another great Soldier and Fallen Hero has been released from duty, passed from our ranks on August 10, 2026 and has moved on to his heavenly home. Retired Master Sergeant Theodore Bernard Niemeyer, age 76, Lumberton, MS, who served in 3656th HEMCO, 367th DS Maintenance Co., 106th Support Battalion, 114th ASG, and 184th Trans. Brigade has departed and gone to a better place with our Lord and Savior. Niemeyer had first worked fulltime at the Shelby CSMS then at MATES until retirement.
It takes a special person to serve in the military for their country, sacrificing time with family time, comfort, and safety to ensure all Americans can enjoy their freedoms, safety, and way of life. We now applaud you for your service to our country.
A special message from General Douglas MacArthur remains relevant today for our servicemen who have passed: “Old Soldiers never die; they just fade away.” Rest in peace, soldier. We honor your patriotism, sacrifices, and brave efforts in serving our country and your family’s support of your service. We thank you for your service. Without your efforts and your families’ support, our country would not stand so boldly, shine so brightly, and live so freely.
You have now earned your rest, so go fly with the angels, go rest high on that mountain; your work on earth is complete. Go to heaven a-shoutin’ love for the Father and the Son.

Obituary, Visitation, and Service Details:
Theodore Bernard “Benny” Niemeyer, a devoted servant of the Lord, beloved family man, and decorated veteran, entered his eternal rest on Monday, August 10, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on December 21, 1949, Benny lived a life defined by unwavering faith, dedication to his country, and a deep love for his family.
Benny’s life was anchored by his profound Christian faith and his personal relationship with the Lord, which guided his every step. For 57 beautiful years, he was married to his loving wife, Elizabeth Ann (Libby) Niemeyer, building a legacy of love and devotion that will continue to inspire generations.
An avid outdoorsman, Benny found immense joy in God’s creation. He spent countless hours hunting, finding true peace in the quiet woods where he felt closest to his Creator.
Benny proudly served his country as a member of the Mississippi Army National Guard, dedicating 38 years of distinguished service. His commitment to freedom and duty included answering the call to serve abroad in Operation Iraqi Freedom, leaving behind an honorable legacy of bravery and sacrifice.
Benny was preceded in death by his parents, Ted Niemeyer and Fredna Niemeyer. He is survived by a large and loving family who cherish his memory: his wife, Libby Niemeyer; sons, Dusty Niemeyer (Melissa), and Ryan Niemeyer (Cindy); a sister, Cora Harriel; brother, Wayne Niemeyer; and five grandchildren, Lauren Niemeyer, Maddie Niemeyer, Emery Niemeyer, Cohen Niemeyer, and Emma Pender.
While his family mourns his passing, they rejoice in the assurance that he is peacefully resting in the arms of his Savior.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Benny’s life and faith with visitation on Thursday, August 13, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and funeral services on Friday, August 14, 2026 at 11:30 AM all at Freedom Worship Center in Purvis, MS. Reverend Victor Stewart will officiate and burial will follow at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Cemetery in Lumberton, MS.
