Visitation

Visitation will be Monday, March 26, 2018, from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at Saulters Moore Funeral Home.

There will also be a visitation from 9:00 to 10:00 am Tuesday morning at Saulters Moore Funeral Home before the service at the church.

Service

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Prentiss Presbyterian Church following the conclusion of visitation at 10:00 am.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at Prentiss Presbyterian Church, for Donald Glenn Kruger, 86, of Prentiss, who died Friday, March 23, at River Oaks Hospital in Flowood.

Interment will follow in Prentiss Cemetery. Saulters Moore Funeral Home of Prentiss is in charge of all arrangements.

Dr. C. Baxter Kruger and Dr. F. W. Tripp will officiate. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Stephen Paul Kruger, Jr., Edward Andrew Kruger, Peter Glenn Kruger, Philip Wade Kruger, James Edward Baxter Kruger and Robert Wilson Kruger.

Visitation will be Monday, March 26, 2018, from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at Saulters Moore Funeral Home.

Donald Glenn Kruger was born Feb. 19, 1932, in McPherson, Kansas. His parents were William Charles Kruger and Mildred Thomi Kruger.

After graduating from high school in Laurel, he received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Mississippi Southern University where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity and vice-president of the student body. While at Mississippi Southern, he met Betty Williams Farr of Prentiss, and they were married on October 15, 1954.

After college he served the United States Army for three years in Germany and returned to continue a distinguished military career. He achieved the rank of Brigadier General (Ret.), was the first Judge Advocate for the State of Mississippi and was the Chief Judge of the Court of Military Appeals. He also served as assistant chaplain.

Upon his return from Germany, he received a Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi and practiced law for 48 years.

During that time, he was a charter member of the Mississippi Bar Foundation and a Mississippi Bar Commissioner.

He served as the attorney for the Jefferson Davis County Board of Supervisors for 25 years, and as the Municipal Judge for the Town of Prentiss for 15 years. He also served as the Chairman of the Mississippi State Oil and Gas Board.

Kruger was instrumental in the development of Price Field in Prentiss and the formation of Jefferson Davis County Dixie Youth Baseball, as well as the Prentiss Country Club and Prentiss Christian School, where he served on both boards. He was a past president of the Prentiss Lions Club.

He was an avid dove and turkey hunter, fisherman and Ole Miss Rebel fan.

He was a member of Prentiss Presbyterian Church where he was a Deacon and adult Sunday School teacher.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty Williams Farr Kruger; three sons, Stephen Paul Kruger (Phoebe) of Jackson, Charles Baxter Kruger (Beth) of Brandon and Stuart Glenn Kruger of Ridgeland; one daughter, Holley Kruger Cochran of Prentiss; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and granddaughter, Caroline Williams Kruger.
