Joel R. Cox, Jr., age 88 of Duck Hill, died Monday, June 1, 2020 at the State Veteran‘s Home in Kosciusko.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the Duck Hill Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at the Duck Hill Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Duck Hill Cemetery.

Joel was born on February 22, 1932 in Tallahatchie County and was the son of the late Joel R. Cox, Sr., and Ruth Hoop Cox.

Joel worked at Camp McCain as a Training Site Manager. He was a Baptist and a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of the American Legion, the Lion’s Club and the Gideon’s International.

Joel was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Virginia Anderson and Dorothy McHugh; two brothers, G.D. Cox, Billy Ray Cox; and his wife, Jo Ann Rose Cox.

He is survived by one daughter, Janna Alice Knight (Bobby Joe) of Duck Hill; two sons, Rodger Kevin Cox of Duck Hill and Stacey Rice Cox (Colleen) of Ashburn, Virginia; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
