On 24 May 2020 Sergeant First Class (Retired) went home to be with our Lord and Savior. A native of Neshoba County, MS he joined the U.S. Army in 1964 and retired in 1996, after 30 years of service. He enjoyed woodworking and entertaining his grand and great grandchildren. He served over 40 years as a Deacon in various churches.
He is preceded in death by his father Willie S. Spears, mother Maggie L. Spears of Philadelphia, MS. Two brothers Jessie Spears of Ethal, MS and Johnny Spears of Philadelphia, MS. Two Sisters Myrtle Spears and Annie Ruth (Spears) Kelly both of Philadelphia.
He is survived by his wife Betty R. (Killen) Spears, two children Theresa S. (Spears) Sharp/Danny Sharp and James T. Spears Junior/Kathleen (Dunkley) Spears. All of Hattiesburg, MS, 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and numerous Nieces and Nephews.
He will be laid to rest at the McLaurin Cemetery in Hattiesburg, MS on 27 May 2020. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
