Brandon – SSG Jeffrey Vander Wedgeworth died Wednesday, March 8, 2018, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS. He was born on April 15, 1962, in Meridian, MS. He was preceded in death by his father, Daniel E. Wedgeworth and sister, Suzan Dee Barnes.

Jeff attended school at Mississippi Baptist High School. At age 20, Jeff along with his brother, Darrell, joined the Mississippi Army National Guard. SSG Wedgeworth was a member of 2/20 SFG(A) for over 25 years. He was a plank holder for the 20th Group SOT-A program and the very first SOT-A in 2/20 SGF(A). SSG Wedgeworth manned the rear gunner position on numerous combat patrols. He deployed many times for training and combat with 2/20th SFG(A).

Jeff was passionate about relic hunting and antique cars. His favorite thing was taking cars apart and starting from “scratch”. Jeff spent many hours and made many friends for life doing these hobbies. Jeff loved his family and serving the Lord. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Flowood. The family would like to express appreciation to Dr. Bobby Graham and the entire staff at Jackson Oncology for all their love and support.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Lisa Sims Wedgeworth and daughter, Addison Leigh Wedgeworth; mother, Dannette Walley and stepfather, Robert Walley; siblings, Darrell Wedgeworth (Marianne), Shayla Hall (Joe); brother-in-law, Scott Sims; stepsister, Erin Riviera (Hector); nieces and nephews, Delia Kelty (Patrick), Lindsey Wedgeworth, Brittany Sims, Jordan Sims, Ashton Hall, Isabel Riviera; special aunts, Jane Denton, Barbara Hamilton, and Jessalyn Fears; step grandmother, Marie Murray; and numerous cousins he loved unconditionally.

Visitation will be held on Saturday March 10th from 3:00pm until 5:00pm and again on Sunday March 11th beginning at 12 Noon followed by funeral services at 2:00pm all at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Flowood, MS.
