Obituary
SSG (R) Major Johnson, 82 a long time employee of the USPFO-MS and member of the MSARNG passed away today after struggles with a prior stroke. Major initially worked for Yates Construction Co. when they were constructing the USPFO Office and Warehouse Facility back in 1968. Major and then USPFO, COL Sherman Anderson struck up a friendship which ultimately brought Major into employment with the MSNG as a state employee as the Grounds and Facility Maint Tech.for the new facility. Major would ultimately end up serving under eight appointed USPFOs before retiring.
Major had been a member of the 113th MP Co and later serving in HD JFH MSNG until his retirement.
Major, better known as “Poncho”, as nick named by COL Anderson always had a smile on his face. SSG Johnson is to be commended for his service to our great country with his time and dedication, along with his wife Toni and their two daughters supporting him throughout his tenure.
Major was always considered an asset to the USPFO Team and MSARNG and has now earned his rightful place to fly with the Angels.
Major’s obituary and service details will be provided upon the family’s finalization. Services will be at 1 pm, Saturday, Sep 28th., Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home, Jackson.
