Amarillo Dale Sullivan, 23, passed away at his home in Abbeville, MS, Friday, July 10, 2020. A visitation will held Wednesday, July 15, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. at Coleman Funeral Home (601 Commerce Parkway, Oxford, MS). A memorial service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Garden of Memories Cemetery (295 Highway 7 North, Oxford, MS). Interment will be at Garden of Memories. Coleman Funeral Home of Oxford is in charge of arrangements.
Dale was born in New Albany, MS to Eddie and Loretta Sullivan. He graduated from Lafayette High School where he ran track and was a member of a Bible study group. Dale was baptized in the Jordan River while serving in the military.
Dale’s best friend was his dog, Miley. He loved spending time with Miley. Dale enjoyed being outdoors and fishing too. He could stay on the bank fishing all day whether the fish were biting or not. His dad remembers fishing all day with him on his fifteenth birthday and getting nothing but a sunburn.
Dale will be remembered by those who loved him as kind hearted, generous, and silly. He loved to help people have a great day even if things weren’t going well. He was always smiling and would give a stranger the shirt off his back if needed. He was an artist; he loved to journal; and he was constantly painting and rearranging his room.
Dale was a medic in the National Guard and was an excellent marksman. One of the reasons he joined the National Guard was that he loved to travel and see the world.
Dale was loved by a family who remembers fondly how much he loved and cared about each of them. His sense of humor often showed his love. When his sister would ask him to pick up something for her, his response was always, “I won’t get you anything, but I will bring you a job application.”
Of course, he brought whatever she had asked for. If his sisters were out, he would always tell them to be home before the street lights came on. He was very protective of his sisters. He was in love with his two month old niece, Maybre Jane Sullivan, and always told his sister to have her home before the street lights came on. He was equally in love with his nephew, Brantley Thomas.
Dale is survived by his parents, Eddie and Loretta (Wolfe) Sullivan; his sisters, Abigail Sullivan and Selena Sullivan; his brother, Johnny Wolfe; his grandparents, Jerry Wayne and Charlotte Rutherford and Ann Wolfe; his niece, Maybre Jane Sullivan; and his nephew, Brantley Thomas.
Dale was preceded in death by his grandparents, Shirley and Lucious Sullivan.
