With heavy hearts, at the age of 66, we announce the death of Samuel “Night Rider” Tisdale, who passed away on August 15, 2019. Tisdale was the first African American to be elected sheriff in Kemper County, in 1999. He served two terms. Tisdale was also a minister and member of Det. 1, 367th Maintenance Company in Dekalb.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 21st 2019 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the E E McDonald Funeral Home (507 Depot Hill St, De Kalb, MS).

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 22nd 2019 at 1:00 PM at the New Hope United Methodist Church-Family Life Center (4644 New Hope Rd, De Kalb, MS). A burial will be held on Thursday, August 22nd 2019 at the Beulah Missionary Baptist Church.
