Funeral services for Gerald Wayne Benthall, Jr. will begin at 12:00 pm Thursday, August 15, 2019 at Northpark Church with the Reverend Ben Stears officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 pm at the Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton, MS. Robert Barham Family Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.
Mr. Benthall, 52, of Meridian passed away Monday, August 12, 2019 at Rush Foundation Hospital.
Wayne joined the U.S Airforce at the age of 18. He was full time at the Mississippi Air National Guard where he was a Chief Master Sargent E9. Wayne and his family have faithfully attended Northpark Church in Meridian for over 17 years, where he also coached Upward basketball for twelve years. He loved to fish and hunt in spare time. He was an avid NASCAR enthusiast. He loved most of all to spend time with his family and friends.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 28 years, Jessica Baker Benthall; daughters, Anna Barrett Benthall and Emily Lynn Baker Benthall. Aunt and Uncle, Linda and Wiley Walker; as well as numerous cousins and extended family members and a sister, Regenia Cox. Special best friend, Greg Stevens.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents Gerald Wayne Benthall, Sr. and Wilma White Benthall; brother, Donnie Benthall. Father and Mother-in-law, John and Martha Baker; special aunt, Louise Harmon.
The family suggest donations and memorials be made to the American Heart Association or North East Lauderdale High School Soccer Team in lieu of flowers.
Pallbearers will be Greg Stevens, Russell Reed, Ray Davidson, Daniel Self, R.L. Newell, Barry Walker, David Pritchett, and Jimmy Allen.
