CSM (R) Johnny Marlow served in various leadership positions within the MSARNG to ultimately serve as state CSM during the period 2003-2004 along with serving within civilian law enforcement within the MS Highway Patrol and county sheriff positions. CSM Johnny Neal Marlow (US Army, Ret.)
(May 28,1951 – August 20, 2019)

Command Sergeant Major Johnny Neal Marlow, US Army Retired, of Carrollton passed away at the VA Medical Center in
Jackson on Tuesday, August 20, 2019. He was born in Eupora on May 28, 1951, and was the son of the late Bill and
Wauweece Neal Marlow.

CSM Marlow, 68, was a retired Command Sergeant Major with the Mississippi Army National Guard and a retired Master
Sergeant with the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol. He was currently serving as the State Command Sergeant Major
with the Mississippi State Guard, a Carroll County Sheriff’s Deputy, the Carroll County Veterans Service Officer, and the
president of Veterans Helping Veterans in Carroll County. He was a member of Vaiden Baptist Church in Vaiden.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 26, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada, with burial
following in the North Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Kilmichael. Officiating the services will be the
Mississippi State Guard Chaplain, Col. Nathan Barber. Also speaking will be Brigadier General Doug Hayhurst, Brigadier
General Stanley Budraitis, Major General John Rhodes, Congressman Trent Kelly, Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith, and
Senator Roger Wicker. Pallbearers will be Command Sergeant Majors of the Mississippi State Guard.

A visitation will be held Sunday, from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m., at Oliver Funeral Home.

CSM Marlow is survived by his wife, Christy Costilow Marlow of Carrollton; sons, Chris Marlow of Long Beach and Jeff
Marlow of Ocean Springs; sisters, Sheila Newsom of Grenada, Carolyn Hodges of Greenwood, Peggy Brister of
Kilmichael, and Billie Garner of Ocean Springs; brother, Gayle Marlow of Alva; four grandchildren, Carlee Marlow, Cade
Marlow, Colby Marlow, Cayle Marlow; and one great-grandchild, Tripp Edwards, all who lived with him; five other
grandchildren; and one other great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Veterans Helping Veterans, P.O. Box 77, Carrollton, MS 38917; or a children’s
charity of the donor’s choice.
