Military Service Tribute, Honors, and Obituary

Recognizing and Honoring a Fallen Hero, Who Served Within the Mississippi National Guard. “Fallen, Yet Not Forgotten”.

In recognition of our proud American tradition of honorable service which our military men and women have given to their country and our State, we honor a Fallen Hero. Our nation, our state, and the National Guard Association of MS (NGAMS) regard the memorializing of its retired military deceased as an honorable and sacred obligation.

Another great Soldier and Fallen Hero has been released from duty, passed from our ranks on Oct 25, 2024 and has moved on to his heavenly home. Retired Major Timothy “Tim” E. Huff, age 60, who had served within the MSARNG in 106th Support Battalion and the 4th Battalion, 114th Field Artillery Regiment has departed and gone to a better place with our good Lord.

It takes a special person to serve within the military for their country, giving up their family time, comfort, and safety for their country, ultimately for all Americans to enjoy their freedoms, safety, and way of life. We now applaud you for your service to our country.  A special message from General Douglas McArthur remains applicable today for our servicemen that have passed: “Old Soldiers never die; they just fade away”.

Rest in Peace Soldier.  We applaud your patriotism, sacrifices, and brave efforts in serving our country and your family for their support of your service. We thank you for your service. Without your efforts and your families’ support, our country would not stand so boldly, shine so bright, and live so free.

You now have earned a rest, so go fly with the Angels, go rest high on that mountain; your work on earth is done. Go to heaven a-shoutin’ Love for the Father and the Son.

Another great Soldier has gone home, “Fallen, Yet Not Forgotten, Soldier for Life”.

February 24, 1964 — October 25, 2024

Linden, TN

Timothy E. Huff, age 60, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 25, 2024. He was taken too soon after a brave battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family and beloved pup, Whiskey, as he proclaimed “alright, let’s go!” in true Tim fashion. All that knew him will feel his loss forever. Private family services will be held at a later date.

Tim was born in Morton, MS to the late Elbert Leslie Huff and Abby Ruth Baynes Huff. He graduated as Salutatorian at Raleigh High School in 1982. After meeting his love and future wife and solidifying himself as a lifelong Dawgs fan, he graduated from Mississippi State University “Class of 1990.” He made a living as an electrical engineer for 34 years. He proudly served in the Army National guard for 22 years, retiring at the rank of Major in 2004. Tim’s favorite ways to spend time were hunting, fishing, racking up the miles walking his dog and boating on the river with his family. In Tim’s eyes, the perfect day would end sitting around a campfire at his family campground, surrounded by loved ones discussing past memories and sharing a meal of southern comfort.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Vera Ann Huff.

Tim is survived by his wife of nearly 37 years, Tammy Fitzpatrick Huff; daughter, Dr. Katherine Huff Barton (Sean) and his unborn grandson whom he is now keeping safe; son, Jonathan “Jack” Huff (Kendal); sister, Tammy Sue Munn (Pete); niece, Amber Munn and great-nephew, Janson; nephew, Tanner Munn (Jessica) and great-niece, Abby Kate; brother-in-law, Jeff FitzPatrick and nephew, Dakota.
