Obituary
Military Service Tribute, Honors, and Obituary:
Recognizing and Honoring a Fallen Hero, Who Served Within the Mississippi National Guard. “Fallen, Yet Not Forgotten”.
In recognition of our proud American tradition of honorable service which our military men and women have given to their country and our State, we honor a Fallen Hero. Our nation, our state, and the National Guard Association of MS (NGAMS) regard the memorializing of its retired military deceased as an honorable and sacred obligation.
Another great Soldier and Fallen Hero has been released from duty, passed from our ranks on Aug 5, 2024 and has moved on to his heavenly home. Retired Staff Sergeant William “David” Killgo, age 75, who had served within the MSARNG in the 185th Aviation Brigade has departed and gone to a better place with our good Lord.
It takes a special person to serve within the military for their country, giving up their family time, comfort, and safety for their country, ultimately for all Americans to enjoy their freedoms, safety, and way of life. We now applaud you for your service to our country. A special message from General Douglas McArthur remains applicable today for our servicemen that have passed: “Old Soldiers never die; they just fade away”.
Rest in Peace Soldier. We applaud your patriotism, sacrifices, and brave efforts in serving our country and your family for their support of your service. We thank you for your service. Without your efforts and your families’ support, our country would not stand so boldly, shine so bright, and live so free.
You now have earned a rest, so go fly with the Angels, go rest high on that mountain; your work on earth is done. Go to heaven a-shoutin’ Love for the Father and the Son.
Another great Soldier has gone home, “Fallen, Yet Not Forgotten, Soldier for Life”.
Obituary, Visitation, and Service details:
On August 5, 2024, William “David” Killgo joyfully reunited with his heavenly father after a courageous battle with cancer. David was 75 years old and lived a life full of love, laughter, and adventure.
David’s journey began in Jackson, MS, where he attended public schools before graduating from Cincinnati High School in Ohio. He then pursued higher education at the University of Ohio. His sense of duty led him to serve in the U.S. Navy for four years and later in the Mississippi National Guard Aviation Unit 185 out of Jackson, MS. He proudly served as a medic during Operation Iraqi Freedom with the “Fighting Catfish” Task Force of the 185th Aviation Division. David’s vibrant personality shone through his love for bowling, golfing, and spending quality time with his family and friends. He was known for his wonderful sense of humor and his beautiful singing voice, which he shared with various choirs, bringing joy and fellowship to many.
After a long and fulfilling career as a Records Clerk at the VA in Jackson, MS, David retired and moved to the Gulf Coast to be closer to his family. There, he enjoyed working in security with Harrah’s and participating in Gulf Coast Legal Professional events with his sister, Billie. David had a passion for traveling, puzzles, catalog shopping, and took pride in maintaining his home and garden.
David will be forever cherished by his family, including his sister Billie Ruddick of Pass Christian, MS; brothers Robert D. Killgo of Pass Christian, MS, and Ronald W. Killgo and sister-in-law Sheila of Moss Point, MS; niece April E. Ruddick and nephew Cary Ruddick (Lisa) of Pass Christian, MS; Nephew Tom Ruddick Jr, (Leah) of Model, Co; as well as nieces: Tonya Killgo and Jacqueline Cooper of Saucier, MS; Toni Easterling (Michael) of Mobile, AL; Jennifer Killgo of Daphne, AL; and nephew Kevin Killgo of D’Iberville, MS.
